Throughout history , aromatherapy crosses many continents, cultures , religions and centuries.It has developed and grown from one culture to the next , as it spread around the world. The term aromatherapy simply means "treatment with scent". It is the use of plant materials and Essential Oils for the treatment of mind , body & spirit. The term Essential Oil comes from the Latin word "essentia" meaning "essence" , essential oils are volatile, meaning "to fly", because they are a liquid that quickly becomes gaseous and react with our brain chemistry for a desired effect and can also be flammable, so use caution and common sense. Many cultures also believe , by altering ones emotions with the effect of Aromatherapy, one can also effect the environment around them- "Magical intent" . Much in the same way Priests , in many Catholic traditions use incense and resins in church, and Monks in monasteries.

We love this new fragrance! Reminiscent of an old victorian home, fragrant pipe tobacco, black tea and a hint of Amber and Sandalwood. Come and set a spell in Mad Heriot's parlor room . Is now under premium oils, due to the content of Bulgarian Rose absolute.

Fragrance Perfume Oils

Fragrance perfume oils are original blends using fragrance oil as well as essential oil, but they are predominately fragrance, and why they are far less expensive. DARKWOODS- Is In Stock

Oils in the category of Synergy's and Premium oils are blends using pure essential oils and essences, these are not "cut" and diluted with lesser expensive synthetic fragrances nor do they have any alcohol in them, when a resin is used it is the essential oil .

MoonaLisa ONLY uses a fragrance if the real thing is either an animal derived essence: such as Musk, Civet , etc. or NOT POSSIABLE in nature, such as fruit oils. with of course the exception of citrus, the rind and flowers contain large amounts of oil , thus essential oil.

There is no such thing as apricot, pear, raspberry , strawberry, etc. , essential oil!

These blends are made from the highest quality herbs ,flowers , rinds & resin oils available. These oils have aromatherapeutic qualities as well as magical purposes, please click Fragrance list , or on the left bar for descriptions of scents. I put them in two category's to explain better the type of scent, example:

Aromatherapeutic- the scent has more of a medicinal quality and good for certain aliments( see fragrance list) Perfume- the scent is made to wear as a perfume and the main focal point being traditional perfume wearing. * Serpents Tale is the only one with a minute amount of Fragrance added and noted.

Premium Oils Premium oils are oils made from the rarest woods , resins, flowers, etc. They are far more expensive to make so they are more expensive to buy, but well worth it. Availability is subject to change. 1 dram glass roll- on or 1 dram glass round with gold cap $22.95.

Natural perfumes have only the highest quality of Jojoba oil, or perfumers alcohol in them to extract the essence available , and it is only a fraction that is used .These are not being cut with Jojoba oil or alcohol, these are being extracted this way. Much in the same way essential oil is extracted by either distillation or cold pressed. It is impossible to liquefy resins such as Labdanum , Amber, Frankincense , etc., without the use of Perfumers alcohol . It is a long and slow process that takes many months to many years to complete. Natural Perfume is the result of the actual essence from the bottom up by the artist themselves. . Not prefabricated , purchased and blended. Nothing is wrong with that, it is just not the same thing at all.The result is a lost art form not many still do today, but there is happily a resurgence ! .

Synthetic perfumes you can purchase in recent times have no relation to the true tradition of perfumery. Egyptians, created beautiful vessels of rare stones , just to contain these mystical concoctions. It is said a perfume composers palette must contain anywhere between 1000 to 1200 material's. Here in MoonaLisa's studio we have recently done our inventory of our essential oils, concretes and essences , we where astonished ourselves to find 750 different components. Five hundred of which are pure essential oils. So we hope we are 3/4 of the way there:)We are proud to release to the public , MoonaLisa's natural perfumes ! More will follow slowly as they mature.

The release of this scent has been long awaited. MoonaLisa wants to thank all who have inspired and encouraged her to pursue her dream of entering the Natural Perfumers world. Finally , after brewing for 4 years , Afterlife / Complex ( not to be confused with Afterlife /Simple, Afterlife/simple has the first three base notes and not the actual four year old brewed perfume in it) will be available for purchase, May 23rd, 2007. Decanted in an exquisite glass perfume bottle with glass stopper, a handmade velvet bag and included is a print of original artwork , signed and numbered by Lisa J. Farrell ( aka MoonaLisa) exclusively for this scent. Very limited stock available.
